Abstract: | Rijkswaterstaat is responsible for the design, construction, management and maintenance of the Netherlands' primary infrastructure facilities. A large number of their assets are nearing their end of life which increases the need for detecting, diagnosing and predicting failures in a timely manner for making the right maintenance decisions. This ensures that vital assets remain available and stay in a healthy condition. This research supports project implementation managers from the DGAM program, aimed at implementing predictive maintenance at six local facilities, to ensure that organizational conditions are met for an effective implementation. Following a Design Science Research Methodology, this study developed a Predictive Maintenance Implementation Process (PIP). The PIP operationalized key theoretical concepts of innovation implementation and predictive maintenance to ensure that innovative predictive maintenance techniques and methods can be implemented in maintenance operations. Case results showed the applicability of the PIP in three historical implementations. Furthermore, the PIP was extended with a visual roadmap to enhance the collaboration between the various stakeholders in the implementation process. |
